UNISBA (UNIVERSITAS ISLAM BANDUNG) born the idea of the Muslim leaders and the people of West Java demands the existence of colleges having Islamic and Muslim intellectuals bear. Unisba beginning with the birth of the Islamic University High (PIT) on 15 November 1958,
under the auspices of the Islamic Education Foundation (YPI). Faculty who first established the Faculty of Shariah in 1958, and the Faculty of Islamic Theology and Faculty of Tarbiyah in 1961.
In a further development, in 1967 PIT transformed into Islamic University Kiansantang. Then, in 1969 changed to Bandung Islamic University (UNISBA) and then successively established the Faculty of Law (1971), Faculty of Natural Sciences Definitely (1972) now Mathematics, Faculty of Psychology (1973), Faculty of Engineering (1973), Faculty of Economics (1979), and the School of Communication Studies (1982), and in 2004 formally established the Faculty of Medicine became the youngest faculty Unisba.Tujuan Unisba education is to realize mujahid (warrior), mujtahid (researcher) and mujaddid (reformer) in a scientific community is Islamic, then in the process of learning a lot of education to the Islamic loaded the Islamic Education each semester, mentoring Islam, boarding students and scholars.
Various facilities and infrastructure, practice and research to support the educational process in Unisba, is provided in full, including: laboratory, library, coaching centers and language labs, data processing centers, the Internet, and various research centers and community service.
To meet the demands of higher education, since 1998 UNISBA has opened the Graduate Legal Studies Program with a concentration of Islamic Law and Criminal Law and Management Studies Program Islamic Education. Now, with the operation permit No.. 2952/D/T/2003 Unisba Pascasarjana add new programs, namely Communication Studies Program.
