INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY BANDUNG (ITB)
Location: Jl.Ganesha 10/12 Bandung, West Java, Indonesia
Website: http://www.itb.ac.id/

General Information and History
Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), was established on March 2, 1959. Present ITB main campus is the location of the first technical high school in Indonesia. Although each institution of higher education that started ITB characteristics and mission of each, all of which influence the development towards the establishment of ITB.
ITB history began early historian of the twentieth century, on the initiative of the authorities at that time. The first idea of founding primarily intended to meet the needs of techniques is difficult because of the disruption of the relationship between the Netherlands and its colonies in the archipelago, as a result of the outbreak of the First World War. De Techniche Hoogeschool te Bandung established on July 3, 1920 with a faculty of Technische Wetenschap de Faculteit van that has just one subject de Afdeeling der Weg en Waterbouw.
Driven by ideas and beliefs that the spirit of the Declaration of Independence struggle as well as insights into the future, the Government of Indonesia inaugurated the establishment of Institut Teknologi Bandung on March 2, 1959. In contrast to the dignity of the establishment of five previous technical colleges on the same campus, Institut Teknologi Bandung was born in an atmosphere of devotion to the mission of the dynamics of science and technology, which is based on the real life on earth itself to the life and development of an advanced nation and dignity.
Over the first decade of the 1960s began to develop ITB and equip themselves with the institution to be held. In the period of preparation is done charging-charging organizations in education and teaching, as well as the complete number and improve the ability of teachers to study abroad assignment.
Over the second decade of the 1970's ITB characterized by difficult times that arise before the first period. Academic unit that has been set up turned into a working unit also serves as a socio-economic unit is limited to semi-autonomous institution. The academy level is increasing, but the assignment of studying abroad dwindle. Internal means and institution increasingly utilized.
Span of the third decade of the 1980s was marked by institution and learning process began entering the modern era with a growing campus infrastructure equipped. The number of graduates is increasing and graduate programs opened. This situation is supported by further improvement in the socio-political and economic state.
Past the fourth decade of the 1990s technical college which originally had only one education department, now has twenty-six Department Undergraduate Program, including the Department of Sosioteknologi, thirty-four and three S2/Magister Program Field of Study S3/Doktor which include elements elements of science, technology, arts, business and the humanities.
This decade will deliver ITB to the dawn of the new century marked the emergence of a variety of ideas and thoughts for development. Some of them include:
That the rapid proliferation of information on the implementation of the new century will require acceleration education, timely, integrated, sustainable, and is the best investment efforts. In this effort to enforce ITB Undergraduate Program on the foundation of mastering the basic sciences so that graduates are always firm can adapt to changes came quickly. Graduate Program spearheaded the improvement of quality and quantity, efficiency and effectiveness, and relevance to the needs, so the ITB contribution to national development would be larger and higher value.
That the acquisition and development of science and technology need to be completed and integrated, in a gait as a Research and Development University. Development of science and technology at the ITB is based on the need to support the implementation of nation-building. Thus ITB will develop itself in researching and manufacturing, information and communication technology, land-sea transportation and aerospace, environmental, and bio-technology and biosciences.
That the mission of service to the community is expected to establish business insight for independence which is the initial capital to establish the autonomy of universities. Business Insights for independence is directed towards achievement of the implementation of the obligations and duties of education and research of the highest.
ITB is expected that the development of the institution rests on the strength of such use of the information as well as possible, maintaining a competent teaching staff of high quality and dedication capability, an integrated system of education, and cooperation is interwoven with government, industry and educational and research institutions within and outside the country. So the planned development can be monitored continuously and measured by college Tridharma implementation, human resource development, infrastructure, institution norms and procedures of work, as well as economic, social, cultural and security.
That expressed a desire to develop ITB with spirit and attitude that acknowledges the truth of science, scientific truth can be approached through rigorous analysis of rational observation. That the pursuit and search for scientific truth is the right of every human being on earth, and science and technology in order to be utilized as much as possible for the welfare of mankind, and the Indonesian people in particular.
Past the fifth decade of the 2000s the Institut Teknologi Bandung legal status as a government agency in the form of office nationwide on December 26, 2000, the Government through Government Regulation no. 155 in 2000 has set the Bandung Institute of Technology as a State Owned Legal Entity.
State Universities with the status of legal entity is something without precedent in the history of higher education in Indonesia. It begins with the issuance of PP. 61 of 1999 on the Establishment of the State University Law Materials was followed by publishing PP. 155 2000 on the Establishment of the Institute of Technology Bandung a State Owned Legal Materials. So with the issuance of PP 155, the date of December 26, 2000 which then became the official ITB Legal Entity as appropriate other legal entities which are justified perform any legal act does not violate the laws and regulations in force. The first consideration is reviewed in the PP. 61 in brief is that globalization raises fierce competition. So to enhance national competitiveness needed PT to build a democratic civil society and able to compete globally. Therefore, PT, including ITB, should obtain independence, autonomy and greater responsibility. The emphasis is on the process of globalization.

Indonesia University of Education was established on October 20, 1954 in London, was inaugurated by the Minister of Education Teaching Mr. Muhammad Yamin. Originally named the Higher Education Teacher (PTPG), set against the backdrop of the history of the growth of the nation, who realized that the effort to educate and to make this nation an important part in the independence. Some of the reason for the founding PTPG include: First, after Indonesia achieved independence, the Indonesian people are very hungry for education. Second, the need for qualified teachers prepared and class universities to improve the quality of education that will pioneer the creation of a prosperous society.

To eliminate such dualism, on May 1, 1963 issued Presidential Decree No. 1 of 1963, which merged into the Institute of Guidance and Counseling and IPG Teacher Training and Education (Teachers' Training College) as the only university-level teacher education institutions. Guidance and Counseling A / B and IPG FKIP in Bandung eventually became the Institute of Teacher Training and Education Bandung (Bandung IKIP).

In accordance with Department policy P and K, in the early 1970s, the gradual extension closed and IKIP offshoot branch in the area to the faculty of the university in their respective regions.

To improve the quality of teachers, Teachers' Training College in London opened in 1970 Post Doctoral program through the establishment of a Post Doctoral Education (LPPD) that manages the PPS Program S2 and S3.
